How Better Care Journey Began

With any new initiative in healthcare and research, it is important to have a council which serves as a foundation for activity or change. Recognizing the importance of incorporating the patient and caregiver voice when designing solutions for ALC, the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network's ALC Task Force  aimed to create an ALC Patient and Caregiver Advisory Council.

The Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network planned to create a Patient and Caregiver Advisory Council through external funding

ALC patients and caregivers were recruited using flyers posted in hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area.

The inaugural ALC Patient and Caregiver Advisory Council held its first meeting and set the council’s Terms of Reference.

The council started to work on various projects to improve the care provided to ALC patients and caregivers (many projects are ongoing).
